Titre : La perfection
Le petit David, voulant un peu d'espace, a dissout le Floyd fin 94, après la tournée de Division Bell, qui donnera le magnifique Pulse. Mais douze ans après arrive un autre chef-d'oeuvre, avec ce splendide album qu'est "On an Island", qui aurait parfaitement pu paraitre sous le nom Pink Floyd sans souci.
En nous servant l'intégrale de son album en live, Gilmour nous régale avec du neuf. Mais il renoue et rajeunit aussi certains des plus anciens morceaux du Floyd ("Echoes", par exemple, joué en intégralité dans une version somptueuse, ou "Shine On", où la partie chantée est totalement remodelée). Pour cela, Dave ne s'y est pas trompé et a repris de vieilles connaissances pour jouer avec lui : Rick Wright, Guy Pratt (bassiste remplaçant de Waters depuis Momentary Lapse), Jon Carin (deuxième keyboarder), Phil Manzarena...
Mais surtout, l'un des principaux attraits de ce live-ci comparé au "Live in Gdansk" est la présence de Crosby et Nash, permettant d'entendre des backing vocals de toute beauté.
Très soigné, magnifique visuellement et témoin d'un concert absolument superbe, ce live est à posséder obligatoirement pour tout fan de prog.

The main one, Breaking Bread, Drinking Wine, contains behind-the-scenes tour footage from the rehearsals in Bray right through to the final show in Gdansk. A short film from America's West Coast; some of the backstage footage was shot by Richard Wright. The third is a documentary on the making of the On An Island album. This is an edited version of the Electronic Press Kit (EPK), but with some extra songs from the recording sessions.
