On the May 31 issue of the italian newspaper "La Repubblica", in an extensive interview about his first solo effort "The Eraser", Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke debunked all rumours regarding the band's premature demise. "We stopped for a while because we desperately needed to distance ourselves from this... Thing. Routine is not good for art. It's been a dire moment, because when you turn the switch off it's hard to turn the lights back on. Things have changed only when we started to rehearse for the new tour, because scheduled dates put us against a deadline. We couldn't pull back from all this, and it's been like a kick in the ass that shook us from a sleeping state that was almost about to destroy the band".
Regarding "The Eraser", Yorke stated that he'd "Like to hear the album in peculiar places, maybe in a bar, playing really loud. I'd like to point out that it's not a «dark» record, and it's full of positive energy".
