TILES prépare la sortie de son nouvel album "Fly Paper", toujours prévu pour janvier :
"As an integral part of a prog-rock wave that experienced its first commercial heyday some thirty years ago with acts such as Rush and Saga and has found its most eminent contemporary representatives in Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree Tiles from Detroit have been creating their own niche since 1993. Asked about their unmistakable fingerprint, band member Chris Herin explains: A cross between Rush, Jethro Tull, Queensryche and Iron Maiden, adding: We tend to be a bit dark and thoughtful, sometimes moody.
Fly Paper sera le cinquième album studio du groupe américain avec neuf titres.
The songs are connected by a theme of human vulnerability; how we as people are continually warding off threats to our well-being and the emotional range we experience co-existing with friends, families, the world at large and even living with ourselves.
"Featured guest artists are Alex Lifeson, Alannah Myles, Kim Mitchell, Hugh Syme, Sonya Mastick, Matthew Parmenter and Nate Mills. Tiles will be released on the InsideOut label on 28th January 2008. On Tuesday, December 11th, ProgScape Radio will be hosting the WORLD PREMIERE of Fly Paper. Head on over to http://www.progscaperadio.com/ for all the details. In case you're curious, this is what they have to say about the album:
The band Tiles have finally reached their voice. After taking a bit of a side road on their 2004 release Window Dressing, the band decided to go for broke. Original drummer Mark Evans rejoined the band. The band worked with Terry Brown throughout the whole process. Main songwriter Chris Herin worked with the other members of the band to form 50 minutes of material that is the most direct and honest statement they have ever made. Once described as "too metal" for progressive rock and "too prog" for metal, the band has finally brought home all of the promise that Gene Simmons of Kiss saw all those years ago. Joining the band in this process are such guests as Canadian music superstore Alannah Myles, former Max Webster guitarist Kim Mitchell...and - the icing on the cake - Alex Liefson of Rush. Needless to say, the reviews are already stating what we already know - this is a early entry for the top CD of 2008. We here at PSR are proud to handle the world premiere of this album. So, please join us on Tuesday night (December 11, 2007) at 8pm Eastern as we spotlight the brand new CD by Tiles, entitled Fly Paper."
